ALCHEMY

Party at the Piers: Alchemy was an event held in 2019 at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, California. For this project, I rebranded the event with my own logo, invitation, and mobile site. In order to honor the rich legacy of the pursuits of alchemy, the brand makes use of luxurious blacks and golds for its color scheme. This only serves to further emphasize the high class nature of the party itself. Potential guests are sure to feel welcome and impressed.

PROCESS

For this project we were given the choice between three real world events to rebrand. The one that spoke to me the most was Party at the Piers: Alchemy, an event held to honor the Exploratorium in San Francisco. Given the name of the event, it was a given that gold had to feature in the design. However, I did not want to make use of traditional alchemist symbols. My goal was to take a modern approach that told the story mostly through text. The idea of splitting the logo with diagonal lines came to me very quickly, and I built outward from that.

INVITATION

The first component is the physical invitation. Envisioned as a thank you package to thank patrons who purchase a table at the event, it contains a thank you card, a meal preference form, and the ticket(s) itself. I thought this was an excellent opportunity to encorporate the diagonal cuts of the logo into the packaging. To accomplish this, the envelope is split down the middle, rather than opening from the top. It also has an inner sleeve that has a beautiful gold finish and helps to hold the package together.

MOBILE WEBSITE

The other component is the mobile website. This would be a potential customer’s first point of contact with the event. As this is aimed at an older adult audience, I designed it in a way that, while visibly appealing, was simple and easy to understand. The only purpose of the site would be to give information on the event and sell tickets. To that end, it is a single scrolling page. Additionally, it only exists as a mobile site.
