GILLIAN FLYNN COVERS
The aim of this project was to create interesting, new covers for three chosen Gillian Flynn novels. Never having read the books myself, I had to familiarize myself with the stories before beginning work. The style I went with was meant to emphasize the mystery surrounding the main characters in her stories. By obscuring the images, the covers are meant to make the observer wonder what the true implications are.

PROCESS
The stippling style of the shading was something that I decided to do from the start. However, in order to make the covers have an additional element that stood apart from each other, I wanted each to have a unique way of obscuring the figure. For Gone Girl, which was the first one I made, I had the figure fade out. With Sharp Objects, I cut the figure apart using blood streams. Figuring out the final one was the most difficult, but I eventually landed on obscuring the girl with the surrounding foliage. As far as the backgrounds, I felt from the beginning that simple colors would be best.
